Her spectacular red carpet entrance revved up the romance on the very first night of The Bachelor SA and her contagious smile had viewers all over rooting for her to win over dreamy Marc Buckner’s heart. But tonight, in a surprise exit, 34-year-old raved-haired beauty Rikki Brest didn’t receive a rose and was sent home at the shows tenth Rose Ceremony.
The stunning all-rounder who has a number of titles under her belt – TV presenter, drummer of a popular girl band, drum teacher, actress, DJ, MC and marketing lecturer – spent weeks at the mansion – patiently awaiting her turn to be wooed by Marc – but to her disappointment – the moment never came to fruition. Rikki watched for weeks as her fellow housemates received their names on dates cards and enjoyed special dates to get to know Marc better. The constant waiting had Rikki eventually feeling frustrated and wanting to call it quits.
Rikki was invited to the second group date of the season along with five other girls, where they competed to beat Marc’s time on a skid course in a stylish Toyota Supra. Although Gillian won the competition, Marc clearly wanted more time with Rikki, and chose her to spend extra time. The pair spent the rest of the afternoon, in the back of his cosy Toyota Hilux, getting to know each other better. The date wasn’t sealed with a kiss, but there was a rose to sweeten the deal. Since then, the date cards didn’t roll in and Rikki was forced to make the most of her time with Marc at the Cocktail Parties, where most of their relationship developed, including some passionate kisses.
Marc convinced her that he was keeping her around for a reason, but a frustrated Rikki had had enough. Last week she expressed that she is not willing to wait forever, because she knows her worth. This week, she was ready to reject a rose after being let down once again and her patience running out, “I really don’t want to be negative again. I don’t want to tell him the same thing again. He is 36-years-old and if he can’t hear what I am saying, then what is the point of repeating myself over and over,” she said. During their last conversation at the Cocktail Party, she laid down her feelings to him for the last time: “I’m not going to beg, I’m not going to play games. If you wanted to spend time with me, you would have made a plan to do that,”.
A leap for love
Four beauts were invited to a thrilling group date. The challenge: To bungee jump off of the infamous Soweto Towers! Rikki was immediately relieved to not be invited, whilst Bridget, Gillian and Marisia were thrilled to spend more time with Marc. Jess.R on the other hand, was a little annoyed because she previously told Marc about her back injuries, and didn’t want to be the person who says no to something fun. Clearly, Marc wanted to spend more time with his number one lady, regardless if she jumped or not! Marisia took the jump in her stride and enjoyed the exhilarating experience, Gillian literally took a leap for love, kissing Marc just before she went for it and Bridget had to pluck up the most courage to eventually get the job done. Jess.R didn’t end up jumping but did manage to steal some sweet kisses, during some alone time just before Marc jumped.
Ingredients for love
Elegant Mulesa seems to be right at the top of Marc’s mind recently. Last week, she was invited for one-on-one time, which was stolen by Marisia with her Wild Rose and at the Cocktail Party and she won one-on-one time after winning the Lottostar “Bet-on-Love” Blackjack game. Despite having spent sufficient time with her, Marc invited her for yet another one-on-one date, which many of the girls thought would be for Rikki!
Mulesa had the privilege of preparing a meal with Marc, one of his favourite past times. They chatted and got to know each other better, and reignited the flame. She also got a rose to put her mind at ease! After the date, Marc admitted: “The more time I spend with Mulesa alone, one-on-one, the more I can see that she is allowing herself to feel. She’s breaking down those walls very quickly. It’s different when there are other ladies around, but when it’s just the two of us, she’s very open and invested in this relationship,”. While Mulesa said giddily, “I feel very much at ease and very comfortable. And yeah, I do like him,”.
The Cocktail Party
The girls played another round of “Never-have-I-ever”, where Jess.R felt yet again as a target, with the girls speaking about her as if she wasn’t even there. When Marc arrived, he immediately grabbed Bridget for a chat. Then, Qiniso and Marc reached another level in their relationship, as they engaged in deep conversation about their families, moving away from the superficial conversations that he has been having with everyone else, which he really appreciated. Gillian’s relationship has reached a very physical level with Marc, as they enjoyed a very intimate and sexy make-out session at the “smooch couch”. The two of them really got in there, and Marisia almost awkwardly walked in on them! She got a chance with him later though, where Marc admitted that he’s getting shyer around her and he’s grateful to her for opening up. Jess.R was all smiles and excited to see and chat to Marc again, but was infuriated when Mulesa interrupted their time to get Marc to chat to Rikki.
